Understanding food chain

Senin, 22 Oktober 2012

Understanding the food chain is the transfer of energy from the source in plants through a series of organisms that eat and are eaten.
Scientists recognize three kinds of ecological principal chain, ie the chain predators, parasites chain, and chain saprophyte.
Organisms in ecological groups involved in the food chain is classified into trophic levels. Trophic level is composed of all organisms in the food chain are numbered alike in the rate of eating
.
Source of energy comes from the sun. Plants produce sugars through photosynthesis using only solar energy and C02 from the air. Therefore, plants are classified in the first trophic level. (Primary producer in)
Herbivores eat plants or organisms, including members of the second trophic level. At the grass habitats that act as trophic second was locusts that eat grass. (Primary consumer)
Carnivores eat herbivores directly including the third trophic level, habitat meadow mouse is the third trophic level that eat grasshoppers. (Secondary consumery)
whereas carnivores that eat carnivores in three trophic levels are included in the fourth trophic iingkat members. In grassland habitats, snakes are four trophic level that eat mice. (Tertiery consumer)
consumer level four is a carnivore eating carnivores. In this habitat as a consumer level 4 is the eagle that ate snakes
Mangrove ecosystem functions include physical functions (keeping the coastline to remain stable, protecting the coast from sea erosion / abrasion, seawater intrusion, accelerating the expansion of the land, and the processing of waste materials), the biological function (where hatchery fish, shrimp, spawning several aquatic biota , where nesting birds, the natural habitat for many species of biota) and economic functions (source of fuel, aquaculture, the manufacture of salt, building materials etc.. (Naamin, 1990), food, medicines and beverages, sugar alcohol, vinegar, fisheries, agriculture, animal feed, fertilizer, paper production and tannin etc.. According to Wada (1999) found that 80% of commercial fish caught in the waters off / and the beach turned out to be closely linked to the food chain contained in the mangrove ecosystem. This proves that the mangrove areas have become the breeding and nurturing place for fish and some other marine life. Mangrove forests also serve as wildlife habitat, retaining angina sea, retaining sediment transported from upstream sources of nutrients and marine biota.
If magrove ecosystems damaged it can be ascertained that the functions can not be run properly. One example is a broken food chain. Since one of the habitats of the food chain is lost, for example, if the dead fish habitat, the habitat zoplankton will grow more rapidly or excessively. Instead eat fish habitat as birds build will die, because no one is eaten, and eventually die. Thus it is not balanced ecosystem pond or damaged.
